This is a little... and I mean only a little of what I'm currently working on.

From loose pose through to cleaned sketch, the tutorial will include basic posing before this, and shading, colouring and a few other things too.

Will throw this version away when full thing goes up.

Thought I'd do a proper tutorial on how I draw, roughly, because... sea ponies. No, because I've often offered to help with advice for people, but I've never had something to reference and say 'look, here's what I do, you can do it too!'

So yes, thought I'd do some more Krysta, too, because the half-elf doesn't get enough love on my page. The rest of Flight can go sit in the corner, I like my spin-off characters better here on dA!

AH Ha! Now, I find this interestingly cause this is actually a combination of what two friends have tried to teach me! I see that you've got the hip and rib cage structures in there for a base on the anatomy. Well, one of my friends literally draws out the bones in characters before adding in other details while my other friend uses simple circles and ovals. Yours seems to be a blend of both

! Now then, looking at the rest I have to say this looks like something you would see in an art book so great job XD! That said it still feels like it will take me forever to get to that level of design.

But, I AM ACTUALLY drawing away and working on different pictures! I'm just being VERY slow in my process since I've come to expect a higher quality of my art (unlike the one I'm gona post later today). However, I'm currently in the process of working on a comic with a friend. We have an interesting set up but as long as he can send me sketches for now then I can color them and get things ready for posting

Thanks kiddo. But you know, there's that point you reach when you're drawing, it's when you keep drawing things, but you can't see any improvement whatsoever, right? No matter what you want to draw, it always seems to fall short of your ideals... And you know? That's where most people stop. Because they see that point and say 'Crap, I really do suck, I'm never going to get this.'

But that's the point I call 'paying your dues', it's the point where you're stuck in the mailing room of a company until an opportunity for a better job comes up. You want the next level of skill, but this is the level that's in your way, and the impatience is what kills you. So my advice is to keep grinding away at it, just keep doing what you're doing, and then... it'll just click. Something will turn a lightbulb on in your head and you'll see that you're better. That you're actually good at this all of a sudden.

Think about it, you'll get there, and you'll be better than me when you do

Hehe, well that is my plan

. But as always, thanks much for the words of advice. If anything its my own emotions being my "enemy" right now but I know that one day it'll click for me. Heck, I can already look back and say that I've improved compared to what I was doing 5 years ago ^^.

Thanks, I'm going to make this into a bit of an anatomy tutorial, so I needed to hold myself to a slightly higher standard than I would usually.

Kidding.

But seriously, this is kinda where I get my ability to offer help and advice to people about art, I'm not all that bad at it myself, and anatomy is kind of a specialty. These poses will be made into a much, much longer piece under the heading of 'Nick's how-to-draw-digitally Tutorial' which will have the basics before this, and the things like shading and colouring after it.

Thanks Hass, but this is, and always will be, just a hobby for me. I can't do this stuff on-demand-day-in-day-out the way that you're able to.

I'd love to be able to pull my drawings together at the same quality every time, whenever they occur to me, but for me it's not like my writing. I can write for hours and hours, my stories flow with an ease and clarity that never actually seems to run dry.

Art, on the other hand, I have to wait for, catch it when it's ready for me to draw it, be... inspired.

So yes, I can draw this tutorial, because the finished product, the drawing that it's going to become, is something I felt inspired to do. Filling in these steps and putting instructions to them, my thoughts and processes, for others... just adds a few bits to something I was going to be doing already.

I may be good, but that's the reason I'll never be *as good* as you or Katja.
